Solo/Experienced Skydive
Gold Coast Skydivers has some of the most experienced instructors in the skydiving industry. They average over 20 years experience.
Tandem Skydive
The tandem skydive is the most popular choice for first time jumpers in the New Orleans area. Requiring only ten minutes of instruction, the student can experience the thrill of free fall with relative ease. The student is attached to an instructor with a special harness. They both exit the aircraft together and descend under one parachute. During the entire skydive, the instructor is safely guiding the student. Appointment highly recommended.
Minimum Age: 18. PHOTO ID REQUIRED!
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be physically fit to learn to skydive?
Skydiving is not a physically demanding sport, however you must be in good health. If you have health questions please call us. We always recommend speaking to your doctor before making a skydive.
Will I be able to jump with my glasses or contacts?
Yes, we have special goggles for you to wear over your glasses or contact lenses.
What do I wear for my skydive?
Dress comfortably for whatever weather we are experiencing the day of your jump. Jump pants are optional for tandem students. Lace-up type shoes are required for any jump that you do. Tennis shoes are ideal. No sandals, open-toed or slip-on shoes, no collared shirts or button-ups.
When are the classes held and do I need an appointment?
Due to COVID-19, jumps are now by appointment only. You may reschedule your appointment, as long as you do so at least 48 hours in advance. We do not issue refunds unless the jump is cancelled due to bad weather (more info below).
How far in advance do I need to make my appointment?
Tandem jumps are set for specific times, the earlier you call the better chance you have of getting the particular time that you want
How do I make an appointment to skydive?
Please call or email us. When making an appointment we ask for your name, phone number, and a credit card number to hold the reservation. Our deposit is $100 per person and that is applied to the cost of the skydive. We do allow you to reschedule as long as you do so at least 48 hours in advance.
Do you provide health insurance prior to our jump?
No, we do not provide skydiving insurance. You will be required to sign a release, indemnification and covenant-not-to sue agreement before you will be allowed to make your jump. Your personal insurance may cover you if there is no exclusion for skydiving. Check your policy, or with your insurance agent if you’re not sure
What if I schedule a tandem jump and the weather is bad?
If the weather is questionable, you can call the Drop Zone prior to your appointed schedule. We are not meteorologists so we can only give you our best “guess” based on information provided to us by flight service. Don’t “assume” that the weather is bad at the drop zone just because it may be raining at your house. Remember, the weather in New Orleans and across the entire Gulf coast is very unpredictable. If you do get weathered out, we will reschedule at your convenience.
Is there a weight limit to Skydive?
Yes, due to equipment manufacturers recommendations and safety issues, the max weight per passenger is 215 Lbs. We can and do make exceptions but you must call prior to scheduling to see if we can accommodate.
